The Al Vista 7E is a swing lense camera that shoots a 6 1/2" x 21 " photo on 7" wide film.

My 7E was in terrible but mostly complete condition. An interior film guard was missing, as well as most of the waterhouse stops, some of the fans, the viewfinder, and the lens cap. The suede bellows was very torn and disintegrating.. The leather on the body was rotten in various places.

I bought it with the intention of restoring to use . I stripped and replaced the rotting leather onto the front section, and put a new suede bellows on. I cleaned the gear mechanism. It's almost ready to take out to use again. I'll probably continue to fix it up, but want to get it to the point were I can take photos with it.

This web page will be updated a lot in the next few weeks, so stay tuned.

In order to use it I need to measure the various parts of the camera and lense so I could get the right exposures, as none of this information was available. So far:

Al Vista 7E
8 ” lense            3/8" slit
21 inch by approx 6.5” usable image on 7” wide film
lense opening .” = F
waterhouse stop opening  .?” =
serial # 6276
no fan ? sec
#1      three second fan         1
#2      six second fan
#3      eight second fan
#4      ten second fan
#5      twelve second fan

? Turns needed to advance film on modified cirkut spools

As spools are not easy to find I modified cirkut spools by cutting them down to 7" and turning doen the diameter of the spool ends to fit the camera.
